STUDIO - The Power of Experiences Film for the Crafts Council

I was invited to take part as one of the makers exploring the experience market by the Craft Council. Sarah-Mace Dennis put together a very beautiful film looking at 4 different makers/groups and the Craft Council recently put the film up on their website and youtube page. I’m 9 mins 12 seconds in if you want to jump to find me although I wholly recommend watching the entire film as it’s so beautifuuly made and I am in such good company. ARTIST TALK - Designing your Future, Crafts Council

Earlier this year the Crafts Council recorded me speaking about my practice for their new professional development cohorts,  this was funded by Crafting Europe and the recording has just become available for the public to watch this week. The Crafts Council have put it on their website and Youtube page. I'm thinking of doing a seperate video just compiling the er's um's and erm's 😂

It was lovely to meet Sarah Mace-Dennis recently who was in my studio filming for the Crafts Council. They are putting together a short film about the experiences and art workshops that I run from my studio. Looking forward to seeing the film 😁

I'm looking forward to this online crit next week, thanks to the Crafts Council for asking to run one of their young makers support sessions. Looking forward to seeing the projects they are all working on.

PRESS - Crafts Mag (exhibition review)

Great review by Anna Burnside in Crafts Magazine, pity she got the wrong end of the stick/knife & fork with the Death of Sainsbury's though. She surmised that Monrow is feeding the tiger not eating the tiger. I shall have to re-look at how I display this piece in the future. I had previously displayed Monrow with his knife and fork resting on the tummy of the tiger but I thought to move him to the end to make him a bit clearer and have him eating a bit of a delicacy of tiger tongue. Will definitely reconsider the positioning in future. I might possibly have to get new studio photographs taken of the trilogy again to compensate for this. Makes you think how clear you have to be in your thought process and how what you're trying to convey can be construed.

A lovely opening on Saturday at the Granary Gallery in Berwick Upon Tweed for the Hidden Agenda exhibition. It was lovely to meet the artist Doug Jones who co curated the exhibition and was showing a fab piece of work called Generations, also the artist Katie Davies who was just a couple of days into her new residency with Berwick Visual Arts.... been checking out their past work online, check out the following links. Exhibition Preview
The Granary Gallery - Saturday 22 March 2014 from 2pm

A Crafts Council Collection exhibition, curated in partnership with Berwick Visual Arts and artist Doug Jones, ‘Hidden Agenda’ presents works by makers and designers who use craft as a platform for social comment and provocation.

The exhibition includes works from the Crafts Council Collection by artists Jane Atfield, Stephen Dixon, Michael Marriott, Angela O’Kelly, Grayson Perry, Paul Scott, Lynn Setterington, Audrey Walker, Michele Walker and Lois Walpole alongside new work by Doug Jones and Karen Thompson.

The exhibition will be launched by Annabelle Campbell, Head of Exhibitions and Collections, Crafts Council with Doug Jones and Karen Thompson discussing their work in the exhibition.

All welcome with complimentary tea and cake served on Level 1 of Berwick YHA, courtesy of the YHA Bistro.
